Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL)

Role in project: Coordination of Work package 8, participant in work packages 2, 3, 4, & 7

The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) is a private foundation offering practice-oriented agronomic and economic research and consultancy in organic farming. The close links between different fields of research and the rapid transfer of knowledge from research to advisory work and agricultural practice are FiBL’s strengths. The Socioeconomics Department has substantial experience in organic farming policies, supply chain management, consumer research, economic farm modeling, and stakeholder involvement and dissemination.

Profile of staff members working on the project:

Dr. Heidrun Moschitz studied Agricultural Science and has her PhD in Agricultural Policy. Heidrun is currently working as a research assistant in the Socioeconomics Department. Her particular interest is in participatory methods for stakeholder involvement, rural sociology and agricultural policy. She is also on the board of the Swiss Society for Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology and on the board of the Swiss Academic Society for Environmental Research and Ecology.

Otto Schmid is a senior scientist in the Socioeconomics Department of FiBL.

Dr. Helga Willer is in charge of the Foodlinks website and  a member of the Communications Department at FiBL.
